The Foundation Stone Laying Ceremony
Erdos Guotai Chemical Co Ltd is a company owned by Wison. This project is another priority project of Wison in the coal chemical industry following the finished and currently expanding coal chemical project in Nanjing. This project consists of two phases. The overall production scale is 1.8 million tons of methanol per year from coal, which will further be processed into products with broad market prospect such as propylene and ethylene monomer, ethylene glycol, polyoxymethylene, butanol/octanol etc. In Phase I, the 400,000t/year coal-to-methanol facility and the 300,000t/year ethylene glycol facility were officially registered in July 2008 in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Regions Government. Their preliminary preparation has started and they are expected to be completed and put into production in September 2011. Phase II aims to produce syngas equivalent to 1.8 million t/year methanol. This project adopts state-of-the-art clean coal technologies, i.e. coal-water slurry gasification and low temperature methanol cleaning, which are environment-friendly with almost zero sulphide emission. The construction of the project will further expand the scale and the intensive operation of Wison's coal chemical industry, and on the other hand will also advance the development of Hangjin Energy and Chemical Industry Base, thus improve the economic growth of Hangjin Banner, improve the living standards of local residents especially farmers and herdsmen, and enhance the development of social harmony.
Hangjin Energy and Chemical Industry Base is the biggest industrial base with the most investment and the highest standards in the industrial history of Hangjin Banner and one of the 14 key industrial zones in Erdos City. On the basis of local coal and water resources and in compliance with the concepts of cyclic development, the base mainly accommodates the development of coal fired power generation, coal chemicals, and fine chemical industry.
