Wison Completed First Heavy Lifting for CSPC LOP Cracking Furnace Project

Release time:2009-08-25

Huizhou, Guangdong province -- Recently, Wison has completed the first heavy lifting -- the 1st convection module of the CNOOC and Shell Petrochemicals Company (CSPC) 120kt/a LOP cracking furnace project, marking the on-time realization of the project's key milestone.

As a part of the CSPC Debottlenecking project, the new 120 kt/a LOP cracking furnace is to be built by Wison as the EPC contractor. A PMT (Project Management Team) has been jointly set up by CSPC and Foster Wheeler for project management.

The heavy lifting plays a significant role in driving the project forward as scheduled. To guarantee that the quality of the convection module meet Wison's design requirements, Wison assigned a full-time inspection engineer to reside at manufacturer's shop and supervise the whole manufacturing process, and this ensures the high quality of the module and on-time delivery to the site. For a successful lifting, Wison acted closely with PMT and construction subcontractor and made sufficient preparations, including examination of lifting calculation sheet, establishing the on-site lifting organization, explanation of the lifting method and safety highlights to workers, special examination of slings, and hoisting area enclosure, etc. To prevent the module deformation caused by unbalanced stress, the hoisting adopts the overall weigh beam construction method. Finally, after all the lifting conditions are confirmed by the Wison lifting engineer, the module was slowly hoisted and put into place through a 500-ton crane, marking the full success of the project's first heavy lifting task.

With painstaking collaborations by Wison, PMT, and all partners, the project has, since its formal launch in July 2008, advanced stably along the critical path, with 70% of the overall schedule completed presently. The successful lifting of the 1st convection module indicates the site has reached a new high in construction.
