On July 5, 2012 the pyrolysis naphtha hydrogenation and aromatics extraction plants designed by Wison Engineering started up successfully and output on-spec products in Shenyang Paraffin Chemical Co. Ltd.
Newly built pyrolysis naphtha hydrogenation plant of Shenyang Paraffin Chemical Co.Ltd has adopted two-stage hydrogenation technology, independently developed by Wison Engineering, which was also responsible for the process design package (PDP), as well as the basic engineering design and detailed engineering design of the plant. The process design package for the aromatics extraction plant was developed by SINOPEC Research Institute of Petroleum Processing, while Wison Engineering was responsible for the basic engineering design and detailed engineering design.
The naphtha hydrogenation plant uses pyrolysis naphtha produced in a Catalytic Pyrolysis Process (CPP) plant as its raw material. Since the arsenic content of pyrolysis naphtha far exceeds that of pyrolysis gasoline produced by ordinary steam cracking, the difficulty of the hydrogenation process is greatly increased. Working together with Shenyang Paraffin Chemical Co.Ltd.,Wison Engineering technicians have trials and researched solutions to key technical problems as well as those concerning the actual raw materials in operating conditions of the plant, working out a practical way of hydrotreating pyrolysis naphtha with high arsenic content and effectively solving the safety issues associated with the hydrogenation catalyst. In doing so, Wison Engineering has set a precedent by producing aromatic products through naphtha hydrogenation.
After undertaking the engineering design of the project, Wison Engineering overcome technical complexities and tight schedule, working together with the owners and project participants. The whole project took only 19 months from the process design package up to the output of on-spec products, fully demonstrating Wison Engineering’s technical and design capabilities.
